The Snellen test is a tool used by ophthalmologists and optometrists to measure a person's visual acuity. It consists of reading letters of different sizes on a chart from a specific distance. This test helps to evaluate the eye's ability to focus on objects at different distances and detect vision problems such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. Taking this online test will allow you to evaluate your vision and detect potential visual problems. Thanks to its responsive design, the interface will adapt to the screen of your device. - Choose which eye you will use for the test: Cover (or close) the other eye during the exercise.
- Position yourself 6 meters away from the screen. The screen size doesn't matter; the font sizes of the letters will respect the size according to the Snellen test.
- Once you have chosen your position, click the "Take the test" button.
- A 10-second countdown will begin. Adjust your position and get ready.
- After the countdown, a list of sequences will be displayed, each consisting of a random succession of letters from the following set of Latin characters: (C, D, E, F, L, O, P, T, Z), displayed successively, sequence by sequence, every 10 seconds, ordered from largest to smallest Snellen scale.
- Try to see as many characters as possible. The goal is to see up to which Snellen level you are able to see the entire sequence of characters. Do not try to guess the character, because if you are undecided, that is probably your limit Snellen level.
- Since the characters are ordered from highest to lowest Snellen level, being able to see a particular character in the sequence implies that you have been able to see the previous ones.
- Once the sequence is finished, the complete sequence will be displayed.
- Based on the results obtained, establish your maximum Snellen level, this being the last level where you were able to see the entire sequence of characters.
- Redo the test for the other eye by clicking "Redo the test".
Optometric Table (Solution)
If you've reached the red level (20/200 - 20/100): You may be experiencing a case of blindness.
If you've reached the blue level (20/70 - 20/25): You may suffer from some type of visual acuity loss.
If you've reached the green level (20/20 - 20/10): You have achieved the 20/20 level, which is considered "normal vision." You do not suffer from vision loss.
Based on the above, consider what your visual acuity level should be and whether you may be experiencing some kind of vision loss.
Remember that these results are estimates and do not serve as an infallible test of your actual visual acuity level.
Please note that to receive a diagnosis regarding your visual acuity, you should always consult an eye care professional.
The Snellen test is a tool commonly used by ophthalmologists and optometrists to measure a person's visual acuity. It consists of an eye chart, usually placed at a specific distance, that displays letters of varying sizes. The patient must read the letters from a certain distance to assess their near and distance vision. Visual acuity is expressed as a fraction, where the numerator indicates the distance of the patient from the chart, and the denominator indicates the distance at which a person with normal vision could read the same letters. The Snellen test is an important part of eye examinations and helps diagnose vision problems such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.
